The City of Oldenburg is intensively involved in the area of renewable energy. Oldenburg is banking on modern energy concepts – energy efficiency, energy conservation and renewable energy – and promotes technology transfer and projects accordingly.

The University of Oldenburg has been active in renewable energy research and education for more than 30 years. In addition to wind energy, photovoltaic and fuel cells, research in Oldenburg also focuses on energy system management, climate protection, sustainable business and energy.

The Center for Lifelong Learning (C3L) and the department Continuing Education and Education Management (web) support the offshore wind studies programme in terms of educational methodology and the online learning platform.

The main sponsors during the design and start-up phases of the continuing study programme were the Metropolitan Region Bremen-Oldenburg, the Ministry for Environment and Climate Protection Niedersachsen and the Senator of Economics, Labour and Harbours of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen.
